How do you recreate a feeling and share it with the world…?

Put it in your food and share that

Our Story

My name is Gil Robinson, founder and executive chef of Alyza Kitchen. Throughout my life, I have loved three things consistently: food, my family, and my culture. With Alyza, I aim to bring my passions together to provide an experience that is delicious, healthy, and inviting.

I have spent years fostering my loves by living in the heart of Tel Aviv, where the food is vibrant and the people are aggressively warm. I found myself relishing the moments I got to spend at any of the thousand cafes in the city, because of the lightness of the service and the food. Every time a waitress pulled up a chair and got down to my level to take my order, I felt like I was sitting with a long lost friend I never met. When the food came, my eyes opened wide to the quantity of food that always left me feeling ready to tackle the day.

After moving back to the States, I felt a void in both the Israeli culture and the amazing food that supports it and I have been filling that void by cooking endlessly and sharing that food with the people I love. Now I am bringing to my new home, the Raleigh-Durham Area in North Carolina, the smells and tastes of Tel Aviv along with the essential warmth and abundance of the culture.

Who is Alyza?

My grandmother instilled in me at a very young age that food is love. From the fried kubbeh that always met me at the door, to the burnt rice and pasta that everyone fought over, her house always smelled of freshly cooked food and she never let you leave without a meal or a desert.

She is an amazing woman who does not stop moving and truly believes in her soul that she is 28 years old and ready to take on the world from 5am on. She is also the sweetest person I ever met, and I am so lucky to have her in my life.
